We all know stress, as that one psychological response that we just can’t avoid. It haunts all of us whether we like it or not. We can’t exactly eliminate it from our lives for good, because it just comes upon on us without our control. From major to minor incidences, stress just builds in our systems. Although this is the case, there are many ways to relieve stress. There are many remedies to relieve stress, but for me I find music and social media to be one of the best therapies for our minds and bodies. Even by simply just listening to your favourite song, I feel it can just calm down the muscles in your body, especially if it is a slow soothing song. But, even if you’re angry, which is a trigger for stress, listening to a hard rock song can channel that anger in a constructive way. The way in which, I find social media as a stress reliever is, for example watching TV. Television has a way of distracting you of bothersome thoughts. This is a form of rumination, which has known to be very effective. It keeps your mind off complicated matters and allows you to focus on something else. Even things such as Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr are helpful. People can say what they want about these mediums of social media, but I have noticed they have a way of entertaining us in many ways. It can be as simple as posting a comic picture or being able to chat online with friends. It is a great downtime and even good when you’re taking breaks between studying. It is not to say that it should be done instead of exercising or enjoying a gorgeous day outside, but I find it’s not just browsing on the web. Social media is far from a waste of time. It encourages reading. On twitter and Facebook many pages and tweets have links to fascinating articles. Depending on what you are liking and following you can be reading stuff about the daily news or your favourite rock band. Regardless you are reading, and reading is great for the mind. Tumblr has come a long way. Tumblr pages are now being used for school projects. People create Tumblr pages for many reasons. Blogging has become a career for many writers, and in addition it is a form of advertising. For many it is used for entertainment purposes, but I think it’s a great way to share photos, music and articles.
