For all baseball fans out there and especially Jays fans I’m sure we’re probably all wondering, what the heck is going on with the BlueJays? A team with so much offensive, power, defense and great pitching, is just in a slump right now. There just doesn’t seem to be any consistency as of recent. Getting swept by the Yankees, only winning 1 out of 3 games by the Red Sox, and same with Tampa Bay. Out of the last 9 games the Jays have only won 2. Something consistently, inconsistent that I have noticed with the BlueJays most prominently is pitching. Specifically with the starters, for example today’s game against Tampa Bay. Marco Estrada started off amazing. Striking out the first five batters, and retiring the side in order the first and second time up. Then all of a sudden it’s a turn of events. It’s like they run out of gas or something and it’s just so odd. Even with pitchers like Happ, who was looking like a candidate for CY young with 18 wins now, he’s still also been inconsistent. Again, starting off strong going about five innings and then all downhill. Even the game the BlueJays won, with Liriano pitching same thing. Looking strong and then he allows back to back homeruns. The game against the Red Sox when Tulowitzki hit the grand slam, even though the Jays lost that game, it had looked like the bats were coming alive in that game. Encarnacion also hit two homers that game. Unfortunately, the Red Sox just kept fighting back and ended up winning 11-8. If the BlueJays continue with this inconsistency, things obviously don’t look good for them in terms of making the playoffs, but it’s not over until it’s over. This team has a lot of heart, passion, and determination. I’ve seen a vital leadership role with Tulowitzki when he goes up to the mound to talk to the pitcher, when they are going through a rough time. When Grilli pitches and gets out of an inning successfully you see so much passion on his face. You see how much he gets into it. When the Jays do when games, you see the little routine Martin and Osuna do and it is adorable. No matter what I will always be a Jays fan. Teams go through slumps and it is unfortunate. But I still hope the Jays can pull some more consistency and wins and hopefully make it to the playoffs. It’s not over until it’s over.
